Quantum of Solace Blu-Ray review
Bond is back in Quantum of Solace which unlike Casino Royale, just isn't very good. It's one of those Bond films that is full of action, vigour, death, women, kisses and alcohol - but seems like it was written by a team of Greek alcoholics down the local kebab shop.
Quantum of what?
Quantum of Solace stars as it's predecessor ended with Daniel Craig reprising the role of Bond and Judi Dench as Q. Alonside the duo are Giancarlo Giannini and Jesper Christensen. Bond is seemingly after revenge for the death of his partner from Casino Royale, Vesper. However, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal and seeks the truth about what happened when Vesper deserted him.Vesper and Bond
Bond interrogates Mr White, played by Christensen, who blabs that the company that blackmailed Vesper is a very dangerous one and 007 should tread with caution. But does he? Well, obviously not.Bond is led to Haiti and a woman played by Olga Kurylenko who has her own agenda with the same organisation. She leads Bond to Dominic Greene played by Mathieu Amalric; the man he's after and a kingpin in the company he wants so badly to take down.
And then...
Greene threatens to take over Bolivia's water supply; manipulating and blackmailing whomever he can.In a minefield of deceit, Bond and Camille (Olga) go after the men that caused Vesper to betray him; and the man who had made Camille's life a misery since childhood.
*Deep breath*
If that sounded complicated; we're glad - because it is! It took a while to figure out what was going on, and some of us here even watched the Blu-Ray twice. There's no doubt that Quantum of Solace is a stunning piece of filmwork, that could've delivered a lot more but sadly doesnt. The TrueHD 5.1 audio blasts from the first minute and you feel like you're sitting in Bond's Aston Martin from the off. Unfortunately, the Bond theme was pretty bad this time around, so you may want to put it on mute for a few minutes. We give this film 2 out of 5.
