So I Married An Axe Murderer Bluray Review

So I Married An Axe Murderer Bluray ReviewSo I Married an Axe Murderer is a middle of the range film with a smart and charming concoction that doesn’t put you to sleep.

Mike Myers – before his Austin Powers Days - in 'So I Married an Axe Murderer,' plays Charlie Mackenzie. He's gone through a series of great girls, dumping each one when he constantly nags over a particular flaw – fussy I’ll tell you that. He’s a poet with commitment issues – o please. That will change, when he meets a local female butcher named Harriet Michaels (Nancy Travis). He's determined to make this one work.

Harriet’s character flaw could be that she might be a serial killer – not a big one obviously. So I Married an Axe Murderer attempts to say something about modern relationships, and how the smallest things are sometimes the greatest obstacles to finding love – and we all know that’s a right b****.

So would I say So I Married an Axe Murderer is a great romantic comedy? Well it’s not hard to answer cause it defiantly isn’t a great romantic comedy – please don’t make me laugh. Yet it’s not all bad news, it's fun. When I say fun I mean in the sense that it provides a few basic laughs and likable characters.

Now celebrating its 15th anniversary, So I Married an Axe Murderer has been converted to 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode (1.85:1) and it is pleasant and good-looking. Like most early-‘90s titles, image is on the soft side. There isn’t much depth and close-ups are rather detailed and the transfer doesn’t look to bad. Due to the age of the film there is a slight hint of grain and a slight dab of speckle here or there, but otherwise bluray has once again come out successful – so even if So I Married an Axe Murderer isn’t the best film in the world at least it’s good to look at.

Sony offers a new English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround track (48kHz/16-bit) for So I Married an Axe Murderer. To be honest it’s a waste as the film only really offers drab sounds and noises.

So overall I’d say it’s worth a kick on a rainy day and you have to keep a few kids occupied. But otherwise sadly it isn’t all that, nothing to do with sony or blu-ray but mainly to do with the actual film being a let down with the plot and sound mainly, but it does struggle to even provide a somewhat decent visual.
