Urban Legend Bluray Review Back

Urban Legend Bluray Review

Urban Legend Bluray Review1998 was the year of the rabbit, up until February 16th, and then the Dragon for the rest according to the Chinese calendar and it was also the birth year of the film “Urban Legend.”

Okay it isn’t as well made as Scream or even as fun as “I Know What You Did Last Summer” yet this film still gives the viewers what they want, death and guts and blood, oh and more blood and guts and death.

Urban Legend is the story of a group of college students located in a remote university in New England, USA. The story focuses on Natalie (Alicia Witt) who is a beautiful and intelligent student who is studying at Pendleton University – note this university is made up so don’t go trying to find an application form for it. Natalie and her friends are, by coincidence, all part of the folklore class – so which universities teach this? Wexler entertains his class with urban legends – well I wouldn’t find them that funny. Natalie is the first to believe that there is a killer on campus.

The first victim is Natalie’s high school friend. Like usual no one believes her until it is to late and everyone starts to die according to famous urban legends – now it makes sense why it’s called Urban Legend. She then realizes that her and her friends are part of the killer’s final Urban Legend, which will be the story of their own horrific deaths – now isn’t that just dandy.

The villain, like usual, is stupidly dressed. Instead of it being a ski-mask it’s a parka. The gore isn’t bad but the humor stands out more, this isn’t really a film if you want to scare the s*** out of yourself but it is a good film.

Now it’s on bluray the release features a 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode at 2.35:1, you can see the quality throughout the film especially in the blacks, which you see most of. It does falter once in a while but it can’t all be perfect.

There is also English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 to partner up with the bluray visual. The special Features are the same from the previous DVD. No one can really complain about the visual or the audio but perhaps they could about the film.

It isn’t the best horror film or even a half scary horror film but it is reminder of the eighties slasher films. Yes okay we know it isn’t the best but it isn’t that bad. If you want to have a good time and you want to watch it and hear it in quality then get this film.

We give it 7/10!
