Derren Brown - The Experiments DVD review
Derren Brown - The Experiments DVD, out on 15th October 2012, we see Derren Brown at his best where he performs four experiments on the unwitting members of the public.
The Assassin: Derren investigates if it is possible to hypnotise someone to carry out an assassination? The supposed killer of JFK has claimed that the CIA carried out hypnosis on him to carry out one of the most baffling shootings ever. Derren looks for a member of the public, and secretly trains him to assassinate Stephen Fry. The Gameshow: Derren hosts a fake game show designed to see how being anonymous and part of a crowd affects our sense of decision. As this was filmed just before the riots which swept the UK, this show offers an insight into mob mentality. An unwitting member of the public, must suffer the consequences of decisions made by a studio audience watching his every move.
The Guilt Trip: An unsuspecting 'nice guy' is invited to take part in what purports to be a seminar in old country hotel. A weekend from hell awaits him...
He has no idea that everyone he meets is an actor, and that he is taking part in another experiment of Derren's to see if he can be made to admit to a murder he did not commit.
The Secret of Luck: An entire town is the subject of one of Derren's bizzare experiments. With the help of Dawn Porter, the journalist, a rumour is spread in the remote town that a local statue of a dog brings good luck. We then see what really separates lucky from unlucky people and how we can create good luck for ourselves. The experiment winds up to one man betting his entire life-savings on the roll of a dice.
