Different Strokes Series 1 Reviews and Episode List

Different Strokes Series 1 Reviews and Episode ListWhatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis? We're talking about Different Strokes, or Diff'rent Strokes as many might recall, the fabulous drama/sitcom/comedy that was on the TV for 8 years from 1978-1986 and became a cult phenomenon, which co-incidentally is out on DVD on October 26, 2008.

Different Strokes is set in very-expensive Manhattan features Arnold and Willis. And as you're probably already aware, one of those brothers is Gary Coleman - the midget everyone loves. The 2 adopted brothers live with the Drummond family. Phillip Drummond is a very wealthy, penthouse-dwelling widower who lives with his teenage daughter Kimberly. Philip's previous housekeeper was the brothers' mother, who when she died, requested Philip to look after the boys. Willis (Todd Bridges) and Arnold Jackson (Gary Coleman), are from Harlem and the fish-out-of-water hilarity continues as they grow up with Philip and Kimberly and learn about life, love, money and relationships.

Different Strokes was one of the very first shows to tackle inter-racial relationships, children and situations with both sensibility and dignity. It was loved by both black and white and used by many families to bring in sensitive topics such as child abduction, race and violence. Now, released for the very first time on October 6, 2008 will gain a whole new generation of fans.

Audio and Visual

The audio is dubbed in French and Italian and has subtitles in Dutch, Hindi, Italian, French, English and Arabic. It has 5.1 and 2 channel sounds and should definitely be in any respectable family's DVD collection!
