School inspectors have told hundreds of nurseries and childminders in England that they must restrict safety measures for UK student nursery and primary school trainees.
Ofsted, the education watchdog, have said there still much more to improve to make sure all young children under student supervision were safe from harm. Just under 12,500 of the 25,000 childcare providers inspected by Ofsted over the period of a year were advised on how to improve the safety for children within their care.
However, inspectors stated that most childcare providers implemented adequate safety measures to protect children.
97% of the institutions observed were considered at least satisfactory at keeping children safe.
However, even though 97% of institutions were considered satisfactory, inspectors made more than 10,000 suggestions on how to improve the way providers helped children to stay safe.
Student trainees were told to leave the night out behind them too, and leave out discussion that was not suitable for children or others in their supervision.
