The UK's government is deeply concerned about how a larger number of UK males eligible for higher education and not taking the opportunity presented to them. The figures showed that 22,500 more female students attended university last year than male students.
Obviously, the repercussions of such activity means that men will begin to struggle to get well paid jobs in the future as a larger number of boys now decide against degrees, opting to go into work, claim benefits or do other things such as travel.
Furthermore, fewer working class students were attending univeristy also. The government has received criticism for this due to the hike in tuition fees, now at £3,000 a year. With such high tuition fees, many are put off the debt they will face at univeristy as well as the £12,000 plus fees that will be owed by loan to the student loans company.
News has also circulated that tuition fees may rise to £10,000. Although the government has pumped money into a huge advertising campaign to encourage students to visit university, this seems to have little effect - with many students still aware that there will be a debt to be paid.
As we all know, students enjoy the finer things in life. Like, the latest mobile phones, laptops, computers, iPods, game consoles, and Pot Noodles.
