Oxford University and Cambridge University have been accused of being elitists for failing to take part in a national student survey, Studento.com has found out.
The Vice Chancellor of Leeds University, Michael Arthur has been recorded as saying that Oxbridge students should join the student satisfaction survey. This survey is presented to all undergraduate students in order to gauge student opinions to education and other matters. In particular, the higher tuition fee level, debt situation and student loans are under contention.
In a further twist to the UK university scandal, The NUS, which represents the UK's students, has said that the approach from the students of these universities has reinforced the image of Oxbridge as perceiving itself to be exclusive.
However, it must be noted that Oxbridge is not denying these claims. Instead, the student unions at Cambridge and Oxford University have said that the student survey is over-simplistic.
They also believe that the questions in the survey are not suited to cover the complexities of a collegiate system, which both universities operate..
It seems that even though students share problems such as debt, accommodation woes and travel expenses, they just can't see eye to eye on some things!
