Roughly 75% of 11 to 16 year olds in England and Wales have said they were either fairly or very likely to go to university and/or futher education.
The survey of secondary school pupils conducted by the Sutton Trust, which is an education charity, shows that more and more students anticipate they will break into higher education.
According to the survey, just under 40% of 11 to 16 year old UK students said they were very likely to go to university, with 34% sayinng they were fairly likely to do the same.
Suprisingly, the Sutton Trust survey also revealed fewer young students were being put off from applying to university by the fear of debt or top-up fees.
However the number of students actually entering university and/or higher education is now at 40%, lower than in 2007. The number of students worried about student debt fell by 7% to 13% this year.
The survey questioned 2,300 young students (and budding university hopefuls).
