It is widely expected that the number of UK students undertaking an undergraduate degree at universities in the UK is set to fall in the next 10 years, according to a report for Universities UK.
The report states that the number of 18 to 20 year olds in an undergraduate discipline will decrease by 70,000 over the next decade.
However, constrasting this is the fact that the report claims that the number of foreign students, particular from India and China, will increase.
The number of students from India has risen by just under a quarter, to 23,835 in the last 2 years. China exports the most students, with 49,595 Chinese students at university in the UK.
It is widely known that foreign students pay a much larger fee for tuition than UK students, who have recently had to pay top up fees, from 2006/2007.
Many students have cited student debt, fees, accommodation costs and other fees as to why they may be put off further education.
