It's a sight many see in the Summer - from Coventry to Crewe, Liverpool to London - all of a sudden, the students leave and a plethora of properties come on the market for let.
This problem of too many student houses being on the market in parts of cities across the UK may be dealt with in changes in planning rules, according to a report.
A report commissioned by the government states that the problem of too many student properties in parts of cities leaves them as ghost towns when the students are back at home. Concerns are focussed on studentification, where some areas in cities become completely dominated by student accommodation. Such areas are evident in Glasgow, Newcastle and Belfast.
According to the report, Government regulations could integrate local housing with identified student areas.
The house price crash and lack of mortgages availables means that more students are renting than buying.
