Students can now graduate with a Redcoat

Mon, 01 Sep 2008
The University of Chichester is offering courses in partnership with Butlins in musical theatre. This 2 year course is a foundation degree and will be run at the University of Chichester's campus in Bognor Regis.

Bognor Regis has held a Butlins holiday resort since the early 1960s. Redcoats are employees of Butlins, and there have been several high profile Redcoats over the decades, including Jimmy Tarbuck, H of Steps and Michael Barrymore.

University of Chichester spokespersons have said the course will help to improve skill levels and allow Butlins to integrate entertainment with education.

Once students have completed the course, they may opt to take a third year in music to gain a BA in music.

Accommodation costs for students are very low in Bognor compared to the UK average, with students paying around £80 per week accommodation. Accommodation costs contribute to debt, so the lower the cost of living, the better it is for students.
