Students in England and Wales are becoming concerned that their student finance may not be in place by the time they start university.
The Student Loans Company has acknowledged it receives 5,000 applications for student finance each day which has led to a backlog of applications yet to be processed. This has caused an outcry from students becoming increasingly worried in a very tough economic climate.
Oxford Brookes University has even allowed students to set back their accommodation payments until their student loans and grants are fully resolved. This is a big relief to those at Oxford Brookes; however students at other universities may not be so lucky with their debtors.
Many university courses have started, with all but a few having started by mid-October.
The Student Loans Company has said it does not know how long it will take to process the 100,000 applications it yet has to complete.
