Student guide to bills - Council Tax
Council tax: If all the members of your household are students then you will be exempt from paying council tax. In order to prove to your local council that you are exempt you will need to get an exemption form from your university or college saying that you are a full time student. You will need one of these for each member of your household. Once you have them you will need to send them to the council with a letter giving your address and other details.
When you first move in you may quickly receive a council tax bill before you have had the chance to get the exemption forms. All you have to do is send this bill back with the forms and you will not have to pay it.
