Student guide to eating healthily - what you need
Bread: Any brown bread is generally good, although the nutty and sesame ones are even nicer.
For Protein: I used to use either tuna or fresh chicken breast, both high in protein and low in fat. However if you are vegetarian then I suggest low fat cheese, eggs or a meat free meat.
For taste: Low fat salad cream tastes great with tuna and just about anything to be honest. Like the advert says ‘All food tastes supreme with Heinz salad cream’.
Low fat mayonnaise is also good, just remember low fat doesn’t mean no fat so don’t go overboard with it.
Another thing I was fond of was some peanut butter and nutella, although it is high in fat as long as it is spread thinly it can add a lot of taste without being too unhealthy.
Then of course you can stick as much salad as you want in there.
All in all you get a high protein, reasonable carbohydrate and low fat filled lunch at minimal cost.
I recommend to take at least 3 pieces of fruit to uni each day as snacks to stop you from eating random crap from vending machines and such
