Do I need a job at university?

To be honest, alot of people often find the prospect of working and studying quite daunting.

Fair enough. What's not fair however, is that fact that students think that by not working, they'll run a huge debt. Not true.

We're not saying don't work. But what we are saying is - think wisely. Your priority is your degree, make sure you get a good one! Sure, if you're doing an English degree and are only having a 2 hour a week lecture timetable working wont be so bad - you could even read at work if you were bored. Obviously, there are degrees you may not be able to juggle work with. Medicine for instance, it's very difficult for a medic to juggle work and study. The simple reason for this is the sheer workload and timetable you'll have!

A definite no no is working during exam times. Unless its an exceptional case, we advise not to work during exams - it'll make you tired, and you should be revising after all! We know how difficult it is to revise - so you need to spend as much time at it as possible./p>

If you're in financial difficulty and need a job, try a Student Hardship Loan first, from your university. For more information contact your university.

If you still wanna get a job (not that we're trying to put you off!), we currently have listings from companies looking for recruits, choose the type of work you are seeking and we'll let you compare the recruiters! Easy.
