Student job assessment tips
Assessment tests are used by employers in the selection process and may measure your ability. Common tests are:
- verbal reasoning,
- numerical reasoning
- diagrammatic reasoning
- personality.
Some will test your aptitude for a particular job or career area (such as IT aptitude tests)
Make sure you are clear about what sort of tests the employer will ask you to do.
Then read the information and advice about psychometric tests in the files and reference books in your career libraries. If possible, ask around for friends or colleagues who may have already taken similar tests.
Advice and sample questions are also available on the Prospects website.
Make sure you practice answering questions.
Assessment Centres
Some graduate employers use Assessment Centres as part of the selection process. This usually involves 1-2 days of assessment.
