Mother's Day Guide

Mothers day is creeping up once again and once again sons and daughters across the country are reaching in to their pockets and looking at the supermarket shelves in an attempt to improve upon the traditional chocolates and roses combination.

So we ask ourselves, what actually makes a good mothers day present?  Well our mothers would say it's the thought that counts and as long as they receive a card the present is not important.  That's all good in words but anyone who has ever tried this tactic will know that a card and positive thoughts don't translate in to a happy mother.

The trick to mothers day is knowing how old you are.  That's not such a hard thing to figure out is it.  If you're stuck just take the year you were born away from 2008 and you will be within a year of your birthday.

The truth is that when you're under 13 a piece of paper with a bit of crayola and dribble will probably do but when you have a full time job and a mortgage this simply won't cut it.

If you're over 13 but still in education, hence skint, then you're in luck.  The staple chocolates and flowers, although completely unoriginal actually work well for the vast majority of mothers so before you work yourself in to a state trying to come up with something different you should just go for this.

Mothers understand, and foolishly believe, that their children are working hard in school, college or university so you obviously don't have time nor money to buy anything too complicated.  We're not encouraging this sort of excuse, we're merely stating that it's an option!

See the following links for great online mothers day sites where you can have flowers delivered direct to her door...

Now for the difficult one, the working child.  Just think how many years your poor mum has looked after you.  Feeding you, clothing you, washing you, supplying you with money for all your needs.  Putting up with endless complaints from schools, neighbours and anyone else you annoyed as an adolescent.  Well now it's time to make up for it all.  You have but one day a year to lavish your mother with gifts.

Let's just put a little side note in here to say that it's not acceptable outside of the deep south to buy your mother underwear.  Ever.

So if you're thinking of that then are you not right in the head, maybe your mother is to blame for that in which case you may be excused from buying a present at all!

But back to what you do have to buy her as a child in full time work.  Well for a starters you should get the classic duo of flowers and chocolates but it can't stop there.  Beyond that you have to be specific to your own mother and we can't really help you.

We can offer you a few suggestions from the following list though.
