Personal Statement - Use of Language
It doesn’t matter if you’re applying to study English Language or Mathematics, French or Mandarin, Sports Science or Media studies, you need to be very careful about your use of language when you write your personal statement.
Anyone reading the statement is going to be from an academic background and will expect a high standard of writing. You may not thing that your language is important if you’re applying to a course like maths but it is, it is very important. Be clear, be concise, check your spelling, make sure your grammar is correct.
Most of all, make sure all of your sentences make perfect sense. This may sound silly but the standard of English in school leavers is rather low these days.
