Student bank account freebies
In the not too distant past student bank account providers would offer new student account holders a cash incentive, often up to £100.
Those days are pretty much over now but some accounts still offer freebies in addition to interest free overdrafts.
If you open your student account with Natwest, for example, you will receive a free 5 year student rail card, which is worth about £120.
Considering you get 1/3 off all rail fairs with the card it is certainly a freebie worth having.
The best thing to do is go on the websites of all the big high street branches and see what they offer. Don't be lured by an account solely for the freebies offered. Make sure you see the type, length and interest on any 0% overdrafts incurred once you become a graduate.
