 Cambridge - a lovely little place with the emphasis on "little" but also on "lovely". Cambridge has been around for over 2000 years, but the university itself was created a mere 785 years ago when students from Oxford, unhappy with recent developments in Oxford decided to form a 'new' university. And so the University of Cambridge was founded on the banks of the River Cam.

Packed out with tourists "punting" down the river in flat-bottomed wooden boats propelled by huge great sticks. Packed with tourists in the winter too, and the autumn, and spring actually. Expect to sell your car for a drink but the pubs and bars are almost worth it; plenty of Ye Olde pubs but a mix of bar-cafe-type places springing up all the time. Not many nightclubs around; a couple of places double-up as venues for live music and clubby-type stuff and are pretty good for both.

Plenty of the pubs have live music and there's always loads of good busking because of the tourists.

Try out the King Street Run; will tell you no more here but you'll find out by pub 14 exactly what it's all about! You'll probably also hear about The Centurians but you try downing 100 shots of lager in 1 hour and tell me if you still fancy joining.
