Huddersfield is a student's dream. In the town, you can have the best fun since duelling was outlawed. Not only is there a large array of pubs geared towards students, but the beer and other alcohol ("fruit-based drink for the lady") is plentiful and cheap. The locals and the students get on well as a rule and the cultural scene is pretty good too.
Most people who go to Uni at Huddesfield are often a bit wary that the "scene" isn't going to be as kicking as elsewhere, but rest assured that the local nightclubs have their share of excellent dance and drum and bass music as well as the obligatory student cheese music from the 80s. The town has a good first-division football team housed in the glorious McAlpine Stadium (soon to be a premiership force), but there are also loads of other sporting teams and associations in the area, and in fact, Huddersfield is the birthplace of Rugby League as well as the cradle to people like James Mason, Roy Castle and Harold Wilson. |
