Crown Court - Volume 4 DVD Boxset Competition

Crown Court Volume 4 is out to own (12) on 9th June 2008, courtesy of Network DVD. In this fourth instalment of the popular ITV drama, talented actors continue to convincingly recreate the theatre inherent in criminal prosecution cases. Meanwhile, voiceovers reveal the thoughts of those involved (including defendants), giving the audience the thrill of having insider’s knowledge as the case unfolds. Volume Four contains 36 episodes, complete and uncut, and is priced at £29.99.

Running from 1974 to 1982, Crown Court was an institution, consistently entertaining viewers with intelligent and plausible storylines. Part of its success rested with the innovative approach of having ordinary people sit in as jury members on fictional trials. Multiple endings were prepared for each story depending on whether the accused was convicted or acquitted of the charges, subsequently lending a strength and energy to the show which distinguished it from the average primetime fare.

A precursor to both contemporary legal dramas and reality court TV, Crown Court is sharply written and features performances from classic British talent such as the BAFTA-award winning Richard Wilson (One Foot in the Grave), Tony Anholt (Space: 1999), Dulcie Gray (Howard’s Way) and multiple award-winning actor-turned-director Adrian Shergold. This series will please those who enjoy tension-filled television that is anchored in social reality.
